Eva Goldstein and saying things you don't mean...

Had a difficult back and forth with a friend tonight. I had written a text to her saying 'I need a friend.' She resented that. I felt horrible, but thought back to Eva Goldstein, the Jewish grandmother I worked with many years ago. She was salty, funny, crude, but insightful. After insulting someone crudely, she apologized and shared her upsetment with me.

"Sometimes you say things you don't mean, you know?" A bit of wisdom I recalled tonight, when I found myself in the same situation.

Thanks, Eva. You were unique and very human.
